The McKellans head to a family reunion at M'Dear and Grandpa's house, where Moz, Cocoa and the kids consider a simpler life away from city comforts.

The family consisting of mother Cocoa, father Moz, sons Mazzi and Shaka, as well as daughters Ami and Jade move to Columbus and live with their grandma M'Dear and grandfather. Jade is totally against living there and wants to go back to Seattle which annoys her family.
All of them begin to adjust to M'Dear's lifestyle such as giving the kids punishments and going to church which they never do. After church, Jade meets a girl named Ava and her crush Drew. Ava convinces Jade to go to a party where she spends time with Drew. At the party, Jade upsets some girls.
The night continues to be a disaster when Cocoa and Moz end up finding out about Jade sneaking out and purposely embarrass her at the party. The next day, the McKellan family reunion takes place where Jade ends up seeing Drew. Everyone has a good time and M'Dear beats Maybelle in a bake off extending her record. However, Jade finds out that M'Dear won with a store bought pie but agrees to hide this from everyone else in exchange for not getting a spanking after telling her off in front of the family.
Jade accepts the move and the family goof off together. After Jade used forbidden language, she uses M’Dear’s secret of using a store-bought pie to get out of a spanking. Jade then fakes a spanking with M’Dear. They laugh as the family falls for it, except Cocoa, who tells Jade to use her dirt on M’Dear wisely. It ends with them going to sleep.
